I specialise in, and have a huge passion for, helping people from the time of pre-conception, during pregnancy, to the birth of the baby and in the post-natal period. I also treat a lot of babies and children using Homeopathy and Reflexology. As well as Maternity Reflexology, I use Homeopathy and Reiki to support women pre-conceptually, during pregnancy and after the birth of their baby. Please refer to the Homeopathy and Reiki pages for more information on these therapies. Maternity Reflexology Reflexology is one of the most popular Complementary Therapies used during pregnancy and in the post-natal period. It is increasing in popularity and establishing its positive reputation through the excellent results people are continuing to experience. Research by London Obstetrician, Dr Gowri Motha has shown that first time mums who regularly had Reflexology treatments during pregnancy went on to have greatly reduced labour times and needed a lot less pain relief than those who didn’t have Reflexology. Maternity Reflexology helps prepare you physically, mentally and emotionally for the birth of your baby, and is a valuable source of support during your pregnancy. During Pregnancy Maternity reflexology can help with the symptoms of the following conditions during pregnancy: …to name but a few! After your ‘due date’ Many women don’t have their babies until after their due date. A medical induction may be suggested to start labour at about 10 days post-term. With the agreement of the midwife, a specialised Reflexology treatment can be carried out in this late stage of pregnancy. Using specific techniques it will aid deep relaxation of your body to help promote the spontaneous onset of labour, and making medical induction unnecessary if successful. Post-natal Maternity Reflexology is also excellent in the post-natal period. It helps the mum regain equilibrium to her body which has been through a lot of physical and emotional changes for nine months, and speed up recovery from whatever type of birth she has experienced. Some things Reflexology can help with at this time are: Testimonials First-time Mum, 29, TeacherPreparing to be a mum and give birth is an exciting but also daunting time; I wanted to give myself the best chance I could of having a natural, drug-free home birth. Before becoming pregnant I never really felt the need to use any complementary therapies - however as I entered the third trimester of my pregnancy I wanted to make sure I was giving my baby and myself the best possible start together. I had a feeling I would go overdue so I used Rebecca's help in ensuring that I was properly prepared by having regular Maternity Reflexology sessions. The sessions helped me to relax and also helped my body prepare for having a baby. Once I was overdue Rebecca came to give me Reflexology to help induce labour. I went into labour 9 days overdue and Rebecca was coming to give me a Reflexology session that day. I decided I still wanted her to come and give me a treatment while in labour to continue to prepare myself for the birth. She helped me to relax and focus on the birth and also gave me support and confidence through some very intense contractions! I had a very straight forward, drug-free home birth and I believe that Rebecca's treatments helped me in having such a positive experience. In the post-natal period, Rebecca came and gave me several treatments to rebalance my hormones and to help my body recover. I would not hesitate to recommend Rebecca before, during and after pregnancy; she helped me to achieve my goal of a wonderful home birth and a happy healthy baby. First-time Mum, 32, Beauty Salon Owner I started having Reflexology in the last two months of my pregnancy. At this time I had a lot of stress with my business. The Reflexology kept me sane, relaxed me and kept me focused. I was also suffering from swollen ankles, after the treatment the swelling instantly went down! I was 8 days overdue and really uncomfortable. I had quite a few sessions in those 8 days and again it was a huge help. When i finally went into labour I had a very fast birth with no epidural and it was uncomplicated. I'm certain that the Reflexology helped with my labour and I would definately have it again if I have more children. I also had a couple of sessions after the birth - this was a lifesaver as my hormones were all over the place again it really helped. I'm now a very proud mum to my beautiful daughter Lucy . I can't thank Rebecca enough for the treatments, all her help and her sunny nature! Second-time Mum, 37, Account Manager I had had a trouble free first pregnancy, and a successful and empowering home birth as planned at the end of it. With my second pregnancy I still was in the mindset that I should do as much as I can in as many ways to prepare myself for the birth and make life easier in the meantime. I had Reflexology every fortnight in my 3rd trimester, and took homeopathic tissue salts for that time too as recommended by Rebecca, and the few niggles I'd had in my first pregnancy - leg cramps, constipation, sore lower back - were largely absent during this time. I felt very much on an even keel emotionally too. When the time came to give birth, my labour was much shorter than first time round and probably half as hard, and at no point did I feel the need for pain relief or overwhelmed. This may have been partly because it was my second baby, but the treatments from Rebecca may well have contributed. She was always prompt, well-informed and professional too. Should I have a further baby, I would use reflexology in the run up again. I look forward to working with you during this very special time and to help support the natural process of pregnancy and childbirth using natural therapies. To discuss your individual needs, please contact Rebecca. Please note that Maternity Reflexology is safe to have at any stage of your pregnancy, but it is advisable to receive treatments from a registered Maternity Reflexologist who has been trained in specialist maternity techniques. |
