  • Do you feel highly stressed?

  • Are your neck and shoulders often tense?

  • Do you find it difficult to concentrate at work, or suffer from regular headaches?

… if so, why not try an Indian Head Massage?

Indian Head Massage #01What is Indian Head Massage?

Indian Head Massage is a highly effective complementary therapy involving massage of the head, face, neck, shoulders, upper arms and upper back. It is renowned for helping with the symptoms of stress.

Massage has always been an important part of life in India. Head massage has been practiced for over 1000 years. Women originally used head massage with various spices, herbs and oils depending on the season to help keep their hair in good condition. Even today infants have a daily massage to help promote the body’s natural healing abilities.

It was not until the 1970s that Indian Head Massage became more commonplace in England. An Indian named Narendra Mehta came over to study in the UK and was shocked to find that head massage was not readily available, and not even included in a full body massage.

Since then, Indian Head Massage has increased in popularity, and continues to do so as more and more people discover the therapeutic benefits of this relaxing therapy.

What happens during a treatment?

Throughout the treatment you are seated in an upright chair. Ladies with long hair should tie their hair back. It is advisable to wear a vest top so that the top of the back, shoulders and arms are exposed for the treatment. For added comfort, you might like to bring some comfy socks or slippers to wear.

The treatment last about 45 minutes, and a full consultation is taken at the beginning of the first treatment. Relaxing music is played so that you can close your eyes and drift off whilst having your Indian Head Massage.

The treatment is in three parts starting with massage of the upper back, shoulders, neck and upper arms, followed by the head and scalp, and finishing with the face.

A small amount of massage cream is used to prevent friction and rubbing of the skin.
